Fundraising for Nonprofit Professionals

The financial health of nonprofit organizations depends on the ability of nonprofit professionals to generate contributions that will support programs, services, and organizational infrastructure. This workshop covers individual donor solicitation and the cultivation of foundation and corporate donors, how to build and maintain donor relationships, and how to develop a strategic fund raising plan. It also includes how to solicit major gifts and how to use the Internet for fundraising. This is a not-to-be-missed comprehensive workshop on fundraising for busy nonprofit professionals!

Grantwriting for Nonprofit Professionals

This new workshop was added when our Spring workshop sold out!

This all day session covers the importance of research and information gathering in the pre-proposal phase of grant writing, as well as how to write all of the parts of a grant. You will also learn what you need to know to get funded by private donors, foundations, corporations, organizations, and the government. To find out more about what funders look for in grant proposals, or how you can increase your chances of getting funded, this workshop will get you ready to write grants for all kinds of projects and assistance.

Grant Writing Workshop Series

Fall 2009 Workshop Series Dates:

I Introduction to Grant Writing - September 16, 2009
This workshop is designed for nonprofit professionals who want to learn about the grant writing process. It offers a basic yet comprehensive look at the fundamentals of obtaining grants in a highly competitive environment.

II How To Write a Winning Grant - September 23, 2009
This workshop is designed for nonprofit executives, program administrators, and staff or volunteers who have basic knowledge of the grant-seeking process. From the problem description and program or service implementation to the evaluation section of a grant, all grant writers need to know what to put in a grant application and what funders are looking for in a grant proposal.

III Understanding State and Federal Grants - September 30, 2009
This workshop is designed for nonprofit executives, program administrators, and staff or volunteers who have basic knowledge of the grant writing process, and want to access state and/or federal funds for programs and services. This workshop includes information on RFPs (Requests for Proposals), how to complete applications, and how these applications are assessed and reviewed.

Cost: $59 per session or $149 for all three sessions.
All sessions are from 6 to 9 pm

Karin Baird

Instructor Dr. Karin Baird teaches in the Master of Science in Nonprofit Management (MSNM) Program at Spertus College. She teaches Social Policy, Fundraising, and Grant Writing. Dr. Baird has been teaching grant writing since the mid-1990s.
